"This weekend's yummies!"

Salad Maya

This creation was copied by the person holding the tittle to the dish!
I added mandarin and ginger dressing, all I can say is yum
Well it's the first time I've made lentil salad, surely not the last!
Almond slivers and the dryed cranberries go very well!
Of course I also made a banana bread, but that's nothing new!

  Looking for a name!
It's made with Raspberry pie filling and White Chocolate, not to mention the Almonds!
It is so good, it's addictive; well I think! So if you want to recipe, let me know and I'll post it.

I followed our old family tradition and ate Cold Borscht with HOT Potatoes for breakfast!
Pierre thought I was strange, so I explained; he still thinks I'm strange!

Anyhow, I dit it Bub's way, a bit of this and a bit of that!
I took 5LB of beets, peeled and cleaned them. Filled the pot full of water and boiled them for about 80 minutes.
I added salt and pepper and the juice of one lemon. As well as a bit more of 2 tablespoons of sugar.
I also gratted some of the beet and added it back to the soup.
So of course once it was cold, by morning, added the sour cream with a freshly boiled potato and yum!

Do you remember the House of Wong Restaurant on Queen Mary Street?

I loved the Almond Cookies there; I thought they were the best.
I think the restaurant changed owners at the same time as they dropped
the Almond Cookies for a mas-production type in which you still find today
in Chinese restaurants; not very good.
Anyway, I made these Almond Cookies which remind me of the ones from
the House of Wong Restaurant
They bring back wonderful memories each time I eat one,
which isn't necessarily a good thing since I don't want to gain any weight!
It is possible that Mason gave me this recipe, or maybe I found it on my own!
Of course with my darkened bananas, what better to do than my traditional Banana Bread.
The flavour is very pronounce if you warm up a slice and spread just a bit of butter!
Yummy!
