Guy Isabel's Very Own Web Page

Oh, and if you're really curious, Guy Isabel lives in Montréal, (Québec), the latter still being a part of Canada as of this writing (*sigh*).

He comes from a scientific background, being an engineer and physicist, having retired in August 2013 at age 56 from McGill University as an enterprise-wide Oracle® Database Analyst, whatever this may mean, after 35 years of service.

His interests encompass Zen Buddhism (he is an atheist lay monk, Sōtō school), Japanese and Okinawan martial arts, and the electric guitar (Fender® roolz!)

Concerning the guitar, he is forever indebted to three mentors: Jerry Wyatt, Jamie Andreas and David Hodge, all of whose pedagogical skills are unsurpassed.

As regards martial arts, he holds a black belt in both karate and aikidō, as well as other belts of rather garish colours in judō, jujitsu, kobudō and iaidō. In retrospect, it would have been much easier for him to procure his belts at a department store.

He was born on March 19, 1957, that year not being a prime number, much to his chagrin. He also published several peer-reviewed, refereed papers in academic journals about electronics engineering, electrophysiology, and pharmacology — although no sane person should actually care.
